Former Nevada Governor and George W. Bush Appointee Robert List Serves as NAHETS Advisor

Robert ListFormer Nevada Governor Robert List is one of several top-level executives who serve on the advisory board of NAHETS, the National Association of Heavy Equipment Training Services. The diverse board features experts with nearly 200 combined years of construction, training, education, and other invaluable management and leadership experience.

List served as Nevada governor from 1979-1983 and was appointed to the Department of Interior transition team in 2001 by President George W. Bush. He also served as the Nevada Attorney General prior to his time in the governor’s office. List now oversees the Robert List Company, a consultancy group which works with clients engaged in the businesses of energy, mining, construction, gaming, manufacturing, and real estate development.

Joining List on the NAHETS Advisory board are several other accomplished executives who each bring a unique and compelling perspective to the organization.

Rodney B. Gamble is the vice president and general manager of the aggregates and asphalt division of CEMEX, and has more than 25 years of construction management experience.

Thomas A. Hethmon is the director of the Center of Mining Safety and Health Excellence at the University of Utah. He is a winner of the prestigious Highest Degree of Safety Award from the International Society of Mine Safety Professionals.

Greg Prentice is a partner at Southwest Risk Management, LLC, and brings about three decades of insurance experience and perspective to NAHETS. He has overseen complex insurance policies for multi-billion-dollar construction companies and Fortune 500 companies.

Dr. Baron Savage, PH. D, is the senior leadership seminar director for the Battelle Memorial Institute, and has vast international experience. He previously served as United States Air Force Academy’s Director of Strategic Language Programs Division. In that position he oversaw day-to-day operations for 54 courses and more than 800 students and developed student study guides, lesson plans, and testing and assessment materials.

Wade Turlington is the director of competence development with Volvo Construction Equipment—North America, where he is responsible for overseeing all sales and operator training programs, including assessment, planning, implementation, facilitation, tracking and operations.

Thomas Wanamaker is the human resources and training manager for STARCON International, Inc.  He is responsible for the recruitment, retention and talent development for the company’s Northern region operations, as well as the corporate training functions.
